I have to question your logic or conclusions about gas mileage and how your motor oil could affect it that much. To say that your car might go from an average mileage of about 21 MPG up to about 35 MPG with two different motor oils is just impossible for me to believe. To think that the internal resistance of the motor went up that much( or down, depending on your perspective) is just hard for my engineering mind to swallow. Considering the fact that the single biggest thing that your engine does to keep you going is to over come outside air resistance( the reason we all get 20-30 MPG instead of 80-90) it is hard to believe that your motor felt that much more relaxed with the Castrol oil, since with that much of a drop in internal resistance, you probably had topick up about 70-80 HP as well. I think that the oil companies would be hyping the crap out of that if the dyno could support it. A 9-5 is quite capable of 35 if it is done under perfect conditions( stick, level road, standard temps and pressures.), but it is also quite capable of getting 21 if you push the polystyrene to the polyester and drive it hard. Do you really think that motor oils make that much difference? Buy the brand that sponsors the race team you like and enjoy.
