Calling Coolant Consultants/Chemists, Please Help!

My 99 9-5 Wagon is telling me to add coolant. In fact, the level is down to about half the reservoir. The coolant looks greenish blue (G-48?)
After reading many previous posts on this BB AND talking to the dealer's service department, I am still not completely clear and have 2 questions:
1. If I understand correctly, you shouldn't mix unlike coolants (silicate vs acid vs DexCool). Also, if I understand correctly, both G-48 and G-05 are the acid type. So, does it follow that it would be OK to top off the G-48 coolant with G-05?
2. Also, now on retail shelves near you, Prestone has "New Formula" coolant for "ALL MAKES, ALL MODELS - add to ANY color antifreeze". The back label repeats these claims in more detail. I haven't seen any posts about this product. Anyone familiar with it and whether it is an acceptable option for topping off the G-48? (it sounds a little too good to be true)
Both these options are half the price of SAAB brand coolant and 25 miles closer, but I don't want to be penny wise and pound foolish. Plase help.
