Oil change interval seems to be a matter of personal preference.
Some claim 3500, 5000, etc, ect...
I will say that in my other life when I worked around jet engines, one particular type required an oil change at 100 hours. At 60 mph, this is about 6000 miles. We also performed an oil analysis every 10 hours, so we knew the state of each engine. The turbine inlet temp was 900C, maybe a little hotter than the typical SAAB engine?
Some want to change their oil at 3500, others 5000, and some, drive even greater distances between changes. At any rate, great, it is probably more comfort than necessity. In the end, short changers and long changers will never sway the other to their side. Sort of like the argument, "which beer tastes better".
One thing I haven't heard mentioned is the type of driving, i.e., short stop and go, vs long distances at constant speed. I'm sure this has a bearing (no pun intended) on oil life.
It does make good reading.
