As far as symptoms go, this all started with the car just dying about a week ago. I put in a new battery since it had been sitting for around 4 months before I got it. It ran okay for a few days and then on the way to work one morning, it just died on the highway and wouldn't even turn over. I took it to the shop this past Tues. and they re-charged the battery all day and then just looked over it to see why it would not start. Evidently they put in a good AMM and it ran fine although they said the turbo was kicking in a little too soon (which I assume can be linked to an incorrect gap on the plugs) and they mentioned that the ignition system could need to be looked at and/or replaced (i.e. cap, rotors, plugs, wires, etc.). So to make a long story short, replacing the AMM got it running. Also, I did notice hesitation when I was driving it last week but not much at the start more in 2nd and 3rd gear. Before it died the idle seemed okay, but then it started to "hunt" a little bit. Btw, any hints about a non-working power sunroof and no dash illumination? Thanks! If I didn't say already, the car is an '89 900T.
