That's what you have to answer yourself. You could spend $5,000 or $50,000 depending on how perfect you want the car.
The best way to do it is all at once. Pull the engine and get the whole chassis repainted. This can run from $3000-$10,000 depending on the quality. Repainting the engine bay would require removing everything. Brake lines, wiring harness, A/C.
While the car is being painted, get the engine and tranny rebuilt.
This will cost another $2000-$10,000. Depending on what you do.
Stock engine/trans, or hi-po engine and trans.
Then there's the interior. You can get all new leather for about $1500, if you want to replace the seat covers yourself. Headliner is probably the cheapest part. You can buy a kit for $50 and redo it yourself. Or pay someone else to do it, or buy all of the pieces new from SAAB for about $1500.
So what are we up to...I lost track 2 years ago! It's tuff trying to restore a car and drive the hell out of it at the same time. I still have a long list of things I'd like to do to mine!
