What parts to replace when rebuilding manual tranny!

Ok after a week of buying tools that i didn't know I would need and figuring out how things slip out I have finally completly dissassembled my 5-speed tranny. The parts are lying on a table ordered well so I can put it back toghether easily.
Now I am wondering what to change. From what I can tell there is minimal damage to anything. So far I have found one washer that was grinded to pieces and I have noticed that the reverse gear is pretty worn out.
Since this is my first tranny rebuild, I am not very sure where to look next. I am getting the Saab Manual for the trany tomorrow. Will that help me in deretrmining what needs to be replaced??
I am looking for your oppinion guys, what are good ways to examine and determine what parts need to be changed??
I have already read Jeff's rebuild web page and understand that parts like the pinnion bearings are a must for replacing.
Any input appreciated!
