I often replace all the bearings but only if the pinion bearings failed and sent a lot of trash through the lube. If the cross-hatching is still clearly visible on the race, it's probably fine. But replace both countergear needle bearings and the pinion bearings. I should qualify this with the fact that many transmissions I go through haven't failed, but are from dead cars and many have been overhauled once. Very few bearings fail other than the pinion set. Buy a set of Magni-Focuser goggles to scrutinize the parts. Look at the tips of the synchro teeth on the gears and syncro sleeves. The profile of the tooth was identical across it's width when new but you will see that the "inner" on the sleeve and "outer" on the gears (looking down) tips will be beat up to varying degrees. Badly worn ones will never mesh well particularly at low speed so watch first and second. These get beat from the worn clutch pedal. Examine the polished surface where the gears float against each other, especially 4th and the forward face of the 3/4 synchro hub. This is where thrusting damage occurs. Also the forward surface of 5th can jam against the back of the input gear from thrust. Examine both carefully for signs the molten metal transfer. The surface above the forward circlip on fifth can get cut right down til the clip comes free. Definitely replace the countershaft and examine the inside of the small end of the countergrear for damage to the bearing surface. 3/4 shift fork almost never needs replacing. 1/2 one does. You can see the worn portion on the contact faces. Measure the thickness with a micrometer on the unworn and worn portions and post them. Nearly all the wear will be on the 2 side. Use new locknuts on the pinion shaft but the one on the input can usually be re-used once. Do the reverse link trick but badly broken teeth will never mesh well. At least replace the idler if it's chipped, that will help. I'm going to try dressing the damaged teeth on a reverse gear to try to mitigate the engagement issue.

Good luck.
