Most definately, you should replace all the internal bearings, as they are not too much and are the main cause of failure. Also, I would check for wear on the cluster gear shaft, and if there is any at all replace it. Any wear at all there will allow some play in the cluster gear, and eventually 4th or 3rd gear will blow out on you by stripping all the gear teeth. And of course, change the pinion bearing, and I would recomend Erickson's modified pinion bear housing and larger bearing set (they are substantially bigger). Their kit is only around $175 if I remember (not bad for how important this is). I wouldn't even consider installing any "new" gears, such a reverse, simply because you will find out how much it is once you go and price them. If you wanted to, you could do what I did and go pull a couple of tranny's from your local salvage yard, and use the best gears between all the tranny's. And remember, might as well do the Townsend reverse gear mod while your in there, which will cover up a worn reverse gear and give you a better engagement (as long as its not too bad). Good Luck.
