<<I'll bet you've already look into this but how's the CIS injection system? Did you replace the injector seals?
- Injector seals are fine. As is the pressure plate holding them down. Nice and tight.
<<You might consider monitoring the Lambda pulse ratio while you drive. In the past I've run a wire from the Lambda connector and used a dwell meter sitting on the passenger's seat. I'll bet you'll find that you're running too lean at part throttle. At 2500rpm and not accelerating there is a relatively high vacuum in the intake manifold. It's possible that you have a vacuum leak that is only showing up when the engine is warm. Your warmup regulator could also be causing you problems? >>
- I'm afraid I'm not equiped with a pulse ratio metering system at present. I'll look into it though. As far as the vacuum leak, I'll double check everything again. There is a curious periodic whistle of sorts at idle. I've never been able to figure out where it came from. It's certainly not all the usual suspects, as I've checked those already. About the warm-up regulator - I've actually dismantled it to check the inside. Everything looks intact, nice and clean and lubed. I do have a spare one to install to see if anything changes.
<<I've used BG44K with success and it's supposed to clean out deposits. Another technique to clean out the crap is to squirt small amounts of water into one of the vacuum hoses while the engine is around 2500rpm. The guys who are running water injection often comment on how clean their combustion chambers are.>>
Good idea re water! This is a tried and true method for cleaning deposits? I'm curious how long one would have to do this in order to effectively clean away deposits. If it needs to be done over the course of several days or weeks, I could actually rig something up from within the cabin that will inject water through inlet port #2 (ordinarily used to operate the EGR valve) at peak vacuum while driving.
<<As a long shot have you tried disconnecting the vacuum advance and driving around? >>
No I haven't, but I'll try it.
Thanks so much Todd.
