Neither of those cars had ABS... but some things to keep in mind is that the force distribution is probably calibrated 75:25 for a 900S or base model. On an SPG, with substantially thicker and stiffer front springs, combined with a car that is already nose heavy I would not be surprised to find out the back end gets lighter under heavy braking, giving the illusion of more force going back there. With brakes which are, by and large, vastly oversized for their application (11.x" rotors on a 3000lb car are pretty big!) and IME very touchy probably don't help the situation.
I valiantly piloted my '87 SPG into a ditch in this fashion - the rear end lifted more than expected, lost traction, and skipped out sideways - but this effect sounds to me like everything is functioning more or less as designed.
I don't think ABS would help this situation too much, except for the fact that in my situation, at least, when the rears lost traction ABS might have kept 'em spinning, which would have at least let me track a little straighter and perhaps kept the car on the road. But I dunno... my only potentially deadly experience with ABS in a c900 was a good one, and the few other times its been called into service on my '90 SPG it's performed as advertised. YMMV...
