Good to hear from you, Justin!
Gee, you never stop upgrading that system, do you? What do you do with the "old" stuff you take out of there?
I know replacing those old rear speakers in my car will make a big difference, but it's going to have to wait a couple of months, I think. Today, in fact, I'm working on the air conditioning system, doing a conversion to R-134a. I've got a new compressor, expansion valve, and filter/drier to put in. Next week I'm taking a trip up to see Huzrjim, and we're going to do some front end work as well as put in a new SPG9 clutch and flywheel. Somewhere down my list of things to do will be the headliner and rear speakers -- summer projects, I think. That's a lotta stuff!
I understand what you're saying about having more tweeters in the rear, and I think I'm going to go to a few stereo stores and audition different sets of 6x9s to see what gives the best bang-for-the-buck. If I can find some inexpensive 2-ways that will do the job, that's fine, but if I can get some nice-sounding 3 or 4-way speakers with clear bass for around the same cost, I'll consider them. Keep in mind I'm not putting in a sub, so the only real bass source in the car will be those 6x9s. That's the characteristic I'll be prioritizing for those rears.
I don't know if I'm going to make the trip up to the SOC this year -- depends what I'm doing that month, and it's too early to tell for me. I'll wait to decide until a few weeks before. If it's going to be like the one in Vero last year, then I'm not sure it will be worth the drive from Florida.
