I had an estimate for mine that was somewhere in the 1200 dollar range. Pretty much everything needs to be replaced though, including the compressor. I figured that 1200 dollars for cold air was not worth the money so I never fixed it. Basically the point is, it could be VERY expensive to get going again, although probably not 1000+ unless you're really unlucky. I guess it depends on how much you want A/C. For me, the sunroof works just fine. (but I live in Eugene OR, where it never gets too hot)
