On your 90, the original "walbro sytle" fuel pump had a built in check valve in the supply side. Replacements don't have this check valve. When you replace the pump, all you have to do is replace the open supply elbow with check valve elbow. I'll bet that is what they did, but their communication was garbled. However, maybe they did hook you up without a supply side check valve. You can see what's up by simply pulling the elbows out of the pump assembly with no need to cut the lines. If you have no check valve in the supply side and are experiencing long crank times, you can safely put a valve in the line. Having dealt with the difficulty forcing the valve into the hard fuel line myself, next time I would cut the elbow off at the line leaving the nipple in the line. Then I would use a jumper of standard flexible high pressure fuel hose to connect the new check valve to the fuel line with proper screw type hose clamps.
