I am an ART HISTORY major and I have a good time wrenching on my Saab. If you have the desire and are not ALL THUMBS you can do most of this stuff. I admit it is easier now that the Saab is the third car in the family and I can let a noise go for a while. It was no fun when my '84 turbo needed work and it was my only car. Two thoughts: get a 1/2" drive rachet with metric and english sockets (heavy and solid) and a black-iron pipe at least 4 ft that will slip over the end of the rachet. A good ratchet and leverage will get axle nuts, etc. off. Next, learn at the junkyard - decide you need a part, load up all the tools you might possibly need (including a hammer and Vice-Grip) and then go pull it off a carcass in the back lot. Pull a few more parts while you are there for the practice. Look at the guts of the cars that have been picked over. Wear heavy boots and enjoy yourself. Good Luck and welcome.
