Yeah, just trying to help; don't think I'm gettin' down on ya, buddy.

If you can buy one you like thru the dealer AND can get a service warranty plan, that'd be a a good step. Be realize that most nice saabs of this vintage are sold between saabnuts privately (like on the classifieds here) so a dealer warranty will take some seeking out. But sounds like a good idea.

My outspokenness on the subject comes from having been/being in your shoes already. Was born into saabs (what luck...), had through highschool, college, now more schooling (equals meager income). I love the car, but it sucks up every dime I've got (in big unpredictable gulps). If not for a saab-blind father who kindly gave me some coin when things (often) got ugly, I'd be sunk. Frankly, there are much more important things in life than a damn car, but once you start it's so hard to stop, that's the problem. We should have AA for saab owners.

So honestly, it's a neat car, but just a car, and not a financially smart car to buy ( =restore)until you've got considerable money to blow on toys. Like brave, brave, sir Robin said: "Run away! Run away!" -'Quest for the Holy Grail'

'85 900S 199k *just went thru it's ~200k mile 'rebirthing' to the tune of $4k. That smarts a wee bit.
