yes this i thought to be true, but am now thinking this is totally incorrect. Every other brand of car in world does the same thing in traffic, sits on 1/2 because the fans kick in at that mark to keep it there. so i will replace the water pump as i think it is not rushing the water thru fast enough at idle, i have proven my theory whilst driving staying constant, now it is only at idle that has to be fixed. So i will reply to this when i get my pump in, which means if your car is over heating you have to check rad core, replace ballooning hoses and tstats all at the same time, then when you drive it is ok then check at idle if all ok then cool, but if not culprit will be the water pump.
