You really cant say that 3/4ths guage is bad unless....

it is known the exact coolant tempratures associated with the guage position. cars with 89deg fan switches and thermostats may run at or near 3/4th because maybe 3/4ths signifies 89deg. Im almost certain that 3/4ths guage is near 89 deg because when i had a 89deg fan switch the fan would always kick on at 89deg. Then i had an 82 degree fan switch and it would kick on slightly below 1/2. but i switched back to a 89deg fan switch and an using an 82deg thermostat.

so if a car with 89deg tstat and fanswitch runs at 3/4's and 3/4ths is 89 deg.....well that sounds about right to me.
