and a tire plug repair kit, and a full size spare as Matt states. Bring a can of that bottles fake gas stuff in case you run out.

Also bring thermal blankets or a sleeping bag if you are stopped. Bring a cell phone and remember the day is only 6 hours long there this time of year.

As far as oil. Do a change and oil filter change and you should be fine. Highway mileage is soft on an engine so it is more like 500 or 1000 city miles. Do you have a block heater? Temps there require it for starting, or you will be dead in the water. Saab makes 'em and I highly suggest it! Use low viscosity artificail motor oil for tranny and engine to prevent sludging below -20 degrees F. If you can't get one, leave car running all night, (but don't sleep in it and vent it out before driving due to carbon monoxide). If you don't you won't start! It is worth the gasoline. Just make sure the coolant system and fluid is good and closer to 100% ethylene glycol. You won't be in the car to monitor the dummy lights, so you need to really trust the system. DON'T RUN OUT OF GAS.
