Crank sensor Posted by Ari [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: bad Harmonic Balancer, need help re extent of damage .., pajjammn, Tue, 4 Mar 2003 13:11:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
According to the wonderful Townsend site (http://www.townsendimports.com), the 91-93 900S with the 2.1L engine has the EZK ignition, with a Hall Effect sensor on the crank. The Hall Effect sensor requires a shutter wheel which I take is the same as the aperature wheel. See:

Seeing the location of the Hall Effect sensor and the shutter wheel, I'd have to assume that if the Harmonic Balancer started to chew into the oil pump face, it will also damage the sensor. Seeing that the shutter is mounted on the pulley, it may be what was chewing into the oil pump.
I'd assume you've got the wheel in your car. Of course, Saab has soooo many different configurations that I'll never say 'always'. But probably.
