Using the proper procedure is important when working on these cars....Imagine a Saab virgin trying to change a dash light bulb, not knowing it can be accessed thru the speaker opening! Or the clutch change mentioned earlier is the perfect example. Procedure is everything. Bently led the way, and all of you on Saabnet have created an incredible resource.

Some jobs are a pita, only because of the amount of disassembly required to access the repair.(exhaust shield)..but that is the case on any modern car. Taking the extra few minutes to move components that hinder access to the repair, instead of fighting to work around them (and cursing them out!), is the key to working on these cars.

But my old '66 Buicks are MUCH easier to work on...but it's not a fair comparison....the '66 only has TWO vacuum lines, and the most complicated electronic device is the AM radio! Simple Design, very accessable, biggest problems I've encountered generally involve removing something that's been rusted in place for 34 years! And come on Russ, you can hardly blame a damaged thread on the car! 8) Same thing could happen on a Saab.....
