non illigitum carborundum...i've been following you exploits...it should be running pretty hear soon. all studs in head and related are 8x1.25. i am almost positive. depends how bad it is as to whether you have to helicoil. a ss stud will be ok standard grade 8 is fine too. get a ss locknut ( not nylock) or peen the nut end prior to assembly. basically just match nut material with stud material. the oem nuts are not copper. they look copper after heat treating and have a funky split washer type arrangement to lock under compression. work great.
moving right along.
block coolant drain plug is best reached from above with engine cold. it is a blind fit with a ?19m? but with ratchet handle just below horizontal you get just enough swing to get some good torque with a 1/2 ratchet. 3/8 will take a lot of tugging, that plug gets really tight. use "threadsealer" not threadlocker. loctite makes a real nice cryolate/teflon based goo. napa.
shift coupler.
get a piece of 1/4 inch copper buss rod and grind one end down to fit the shift rod hole. place rod in top of diff cover groove and insert into shift rod while in 3rd gear?? too lazy to open bentley. then pull accordian boot in front of shifter and push carpet back, look for a hole. insert a screwdriver into it and align the other half...or some such thing. you have the manual.
aic hose.
let me guess. it is collapsing?? take 2-3 hose clamps and put down the length of it. tighten gently. it will constrict their motion and retain the shape. otherwise you can always make a funky homemade adapter hose of some type but it should be relatively smooth walled for aic flow/noise/whatever.
tie rod nuts.
take a pair of vise grips ( i use welders grips ) or channel locks and compress tie rod end into arm. barring that, accurately timed light hammer strikes can bind it while you tighten. c-clamp may workd but welder's grips get out of the way. no decent toolbox should without them. they will hold anything....axles...springs...you name it. i have 2. beat to hell.
where was i...:) good luck.
