My neighbor is a Saab dealer mech. He says to put the trans in neutral. The shift lever should be straight up side to side and back to front. Then tighten shift rod clamp. They don't bother with the special rod thing. They only use the copper nuts on the manifold studs.I did a head gasket this weekend. I now have one manifold stud that is 3/8ths.In hind sight I should have replaced them.
