Went & picked up my 1992 900 2.1 16v non turbo from the mechanic the other day after a$1600 head gasket replacement. Drove 6 miles at about 65 mph when the oil lite blinked on. Got off the highway in about 1 minute but not before serious tapping under the hood! Car towed back to mecahnic who said he would check it out. He just called and said I had the rod bearings fail on #3&#4 cylinders and that the repair would cost an additional $2200. I'm not knowledgable about engines but I'm getting the feeling that this is too much coincidence. Any specific opinions about what he may have done or not done while doing the head gasket that may have caused this failure? The car never had made any sounds before. I'd really appreciate any input from either point of view 117,000 miles THANKS
