The consensus here is that the mech. missed something...& I agree. Your problem is that you don't seem all that familiar with the normal goings on under the bonnet. Please don't take (too much) offense, but I doubt you'd notice a garden nome hiding out under there, let alone oil that had gotten past a loose 3614, or any of the other very possible theories mentioned. So what you need is an impartial 2nd opinion (ie. not from someone your mech. drinks beer with after...or in this case BEFORE fixing cars). Get that 2.1 to someone who speaks Saab! Have AAA to tow it to a Saab specialty shop (if you don't have AAA, get it...the Prem.+ memb. is well worth the money). Something so far not mentioned as a possibility is a timing chain not reinstalled properly, old gasket debris or tools dropped into the engine (Do you want to pay $2g's for that guy to retrieve his 13mm socket from your crankcase?...doh! I've been looking everywhere for that!;), or how about the headgasket being on upside down?
You need to act on this quickly, so once you have proof of mech. error or incompetence, you'll have time to dispute the orig. charge on your credit card (you did use plastic - right?) & then take this joker to court for the cost to RR the motor. Good luck. BTW ~ I'd also condense whats been offered here on the BB & relay it to Townsend Imports to see what they say.
