Bad bearings from corrosion doesn't make low oil pressure warning light come on. Bearings catching because oil has coolant in it doesn't make oil pressure light come on (and this is supposedly after a good repair of a bad head gasket so how would coolant get into the oil, in large quantities, a few miles into the drive home?).
Oil pressure light comes on because there's no oil pressure - - and almost invariably, there's no oil pressure because there's no oil.
Mac may not have seen enough to know just what went wrong, but his mechanic sure enough did see. He better have a darn good spiel to pitch, or else fess up and fix things for free, or there's no relationship to salvage.
It's a darn shame for everyone when things go wrong, but there's supposed to be enough gravy in the business that if they do, and it's your fault, you make it right, you don't try to get even more money out of the customer.
Are you saying, let's all sing that old country favorite, "Stand By Your Mechanic?"
