Almost got stranded the other day. My 88' 900s was operating just fine, then radio just quit, then dash lights went dim and out, then headlights got dim, check engine light came on solid and I just made home in time, engine started to lose power as I got it in the driveway. Later car started OK one time, but next time battery was dead. I charged the battery up overnight, it's now starting ok and no warning lights are on. What should the voltage read at the battery? It now reads 12.4 with dvm. I have so far; cleaned all ground connections, checked all battery cables, cleaned batt posts, replaced alternator with known good spare, replaced ground wire at alt, verified light in dash comes on before starting, removed fuse for radio, (radio is still dead). replaced suspect terminal end of grn/white wire at alt. I'm wondering if the radio could somehow being the culpret since all started when it died, it's not the original Clarion, but a Sony CD player. Not sure I even still have a problem if 12.4 is ok. However is no electrical accessory is on wouldn't volts at battery be around 13.5? Any ideas greatly appreciated.
