Normal coolant temp in '93 TC ???

Replaced following parts:
Water pump and belts
Thermostat (82C)
Thermo-switch (82C)
Coolant hoses
Heater hoses
Antifreeze (Saab blue)
All parts used were oem Saab. Also flushed and bled coolant and heater systems. Cabin gets very hot, so heating system working correctly.
Temp gauge stays at 1/2-way mark at all times, except when it rises slightly and the cooling fans kick in, bring it back down to 1/2-way. Is this normal operating temp? Seems like the fans have to constantly kick in to maintain the temp at 1/2-way. I have never seen the gauge lower than 1/2-way.
Everything else is maintained perfectly (plugs, timing, turbo, etc.).
