I removed the heater hoses bypass valve and installed the older style hoses. Everything related to cooling system has been replaced except for the radiator and temp gauge sender/sensor. All this work was done within the last 6 months. I live in CT, where it does not get that hot.
Before I replaced all the components, the gauge used to read close to end/high/hot mark. After the maintenance, it now stays at the 1/2-way mark, and climbs slightly above which makes the fans kick on (both fans kick on, even without the a/c running). It reaches this 1/2-way mark within minutes of starting the car and driving it (after sitting overnight). It never goes lower. All of my driving is highway commuting (120 miles per day), and the gauge stays at the 1/2-way spot during this cruising. Even in local driving, it stays at that. It also seems the fans kick on quite often to maintain this 1/2-way point.
Could it be the radiator? If so, I see eEuro is having a "special" this month on radiators for $139 and would jump on it if needed. Should I also throw in the temp sender and hit all bases?
