Everything I'm capable of trouble shooting checks out fine. I don't want to unnecessarily throw expensive parts at the car, but if I fail this retest, the DMV will suspend my reg. & that's a headache I don't need.

I'm happy to hear no one suspects the ECU & I'll leave it alone. I don't mind (too much) paying for a new AMM, as I've got x2 LH 2.2 c900s & having a spare is a good idea - still, I've heard a few BB'rs complain about bum rebuilds & I'd sure like to avoid that. I'm putting in a new cat bc just about everyone of you has told me a tired converter passes excessive Nox...I also subjected my cat to some abuse when I pounded it (a lot) on the pavement to shake out rust debris from a disintegrating front pipe.

I guess I'll repl. NTC sensor while I'm at it too, though I've checked the resistance at varying temps & it reads very close to Bentley specification. I've also checked two other NTC's along side the one in the car when all three were at ambient temperature...they all read differently, but still close enough to spec. that I wouldn't think any were n/g.

Oh, vvack0... I know the turbo is loosing oil into the intake & exh. bc there's occasionally blue smoke coming out of the tail pipe at idle (not very often & the oil level hasn't budged), some oil residue on the spark plugs & a bit of discernible oil sizzle & smoke at the union of the turbo & down pipe elbow. I don't know why this happens so unpredictably & as infrequently as it does...but with my luck, it'll smoke like a 73' Peterbilt when I go for a retest :( if it does, will that increase HC readings? It doesn't matter, I'm not going to mess w/the turbo...though I might pull the oil return off & clean it out.

Don't get the wrong idea about this car...it's not a sh!t box & didn't deserve to be junked (what's the matter with some people?). The car looks & drives nice, plus the boost is excellent! I had the dash all over my living room when I repaired the odometer, so I had the opportunity to clean things very well - everything looks great! Hopefully she'll pass emissions on Monday.

Any thoughts as to how increasing the fuel mixture a little will affect things? Any opinions about those dual electrode BMW plugs (Bosch FR7LDC+) I've got?

Thanks everyone.
