I'd say if you buy a rack for 150.00 the cost to replace the rack should be equivalent to about 3 hours labour including checking/replacing the tie rods and an alignment.
I forgot to add that I also replaced the dash/fascia, speedo and power locks using parts from the 84. Don't worry I took everything I could from the 84 and stashed those parts away (and am grateful that I did). When the wrecker came to tow the 84 away about 6 years ago it was basically just a shell (even the wheels/tires were removed).
