The cupholders on my 86 are built into the back side of the glove box door.
FYI- I rebuilt the driver's seat first with the SAAB kit, then by adding a second wire mesh to the underside and finally by sticking a small sheet of plywood underneath between mesh and foam. The burlap/cotton does not appear to do much of anything in terms of support. The foam is in sections which tends to separate with age and the problem may lie there.
These various add ons have not been able to give long distance comfort to the 86's base model (non-leather)seat cushion that I enjoyed in the 84's S model cushion - also cloth. Not sure why that is. Outwardly there are only minor differences between the two with the S model having more of a waffle like arrangement but similar if not identical cushion dimensions and thickness.
Can a small design change really make that much difference in comfort?
On the 86, lower body fatigue sets in where my rear end comes in contact with the seat towards the rear of the cushion. Both seats were "previoulsy owned" so I don't know what additional weight, fluids or gasses were added over time.I could drive the 84 from one end of the country to the other without fatigue. Maybe it has more to do with the loss of our own extra cushioning as we age that accounts for the problem.
