I know it sounds a bit nasty. Yet why bring in emotions to car deal?? It is a one time transaction. After the deal is done, it is over. You are not building a relationship. Now that I said that.

The guy already went down on the price; so you might as well grab the car and move on, and start enjoying the 900 unless you are having second thoughts on the car in general.

Now if you are not sure if the car is worth the price, then you can ask for opinions:

First we need some info:

Do you have any photos?

The car is a 1993, what is the mileage? Is it a Turbo, or an S? automatci or manual?

Is there rust on the wheel wells? Is there rust in the inside of the doors?

A Saab 900 is a type of car that you have to love, and the idling issue can be simple as a vacuum leak, or an air mass meter, or an AIC valve. Ask your mechanic for his advice. From your description of the car, be prepared to invest dollars in this car if you wish to make it really nice.

All of the above are factors. This kind of car (16 years old) can't be looked upon as recent car. It is either you want it or you don't. If your mechanic ok'd the price and you have confidence, then what is the issue?

A cheap radio that the seller wnated to keep because he felt that the car was worth more?? I personally would not let that affect the deal, yet two cents of course.
