When I read my reread my post, it came across much too harsh.
Pardon for that. I guess I am always defending the Saab 900s, it came out wrong.
The looks off the 900 is great, yet one has to like the way it runs as well. If it is a manual, then one has to know how to drive it properly. It is not the type of a car that will accelerate and beat a Maxima at a light. Here in NYC, where the avearage person is jackrabbit at the light, I pull off leisurely, usually with my eyes on the rear view mirror( because some people are so stupid that it seams that their cars will rear end)and then build the car up to speed in second. I have been driving 900s so long that it became a skill to drive them properly. The transmission is an old design dating back to the 1971!
One can still drive swift, yet preserve the transmission. The people who do not know of mechanics tend to accelerate the 900 hard from the light(wear on the motor mounts, drive shadts, inner drivers), and hit the clutch and slam the lever into second. That will eventually damage the transmission. Grinding will be experienced.
If this your first 900, take a long test drive first...
Were you satisfied on the way the car ran? sounded, accelerated? Did you take it on rough roads? The car has shocks all around and does not take bumps like modern cars with struts. It rides relatively hard.
Any question, don't hesistate to ask..
Good luck!
