Despite, some have had success, with jambing the teeth with a threaded rod, spark plug wire, and hammering, etc_ it is better to simply buy the correct tool for the job. Correct length, shape and width.
I remember spending over two hours, with my brother holding the clutch down, and me trying to force a spark plug wire in. I can't remember if I finaly got it to work, yet I do recall it popping out, pressure plate teeth not evenly compressed, etc.
