Yep, locked up sounds bad. I always ship C900 five speeds via Fedex ground. Clean as best possible, drain well, wrap in plastic, strap securely to a small piece of 3/4" plywood (roughly 20 by 30 inches), fix a piece of cardboard on there somewhere for a label and off you go. Freeport, Maine (for example) to Paonia, Colorado = $115.70 and goes door to door in about 4-5 business days. Cheaper, faster and less hassle than motor freight. These units weigh 125 lbs dry and packing (as described) adds about 10 lbs. Fedex ground maximum allowable weight is 150 lbs. I can't do rebuilds fast anymore, I'm in the distilling business now. Also, good used parts are getting scarcer and scarcer every day. Every time somebody trashes one of these five speeds a little Swedish angel sheds a tear.
