It's not always about that...

I have two Saab S Autos - an '88 900 and an '89 9000. NOT because I like autos (I LOVE the Saab 5sp box - for that matter I liked my '79 900 GLE 4sp), but because my wife can't/won't drive a manual and sometimes compromise is necessary.
I want her to drive a Saab. I want my daughter to ride in a Saab. I want both of them to be able to use either car at any time. For safety and reliability reasons, this is the prime factor.
And you know what? Living in the city and doing mostly street and short highway runs, both cars perform very well. Neither tranny has had major probs (knock on wood). Do I get to blow doors off folks? No. But that's not always what it's about. I just drove the 9000 2000+ miles in a week and it was a wonderful ride. 80MPH the whole way, cruise control, 26.5MPG, smooth, comfortable, safe and reliable. Not bad for a 13 year old car (AKA F.E.T.S. - Fine European Touring Sedan).
My 2 cents...
