Your EDU shows as low as 9V before you start the car? There are three and a half volts missing from that reading, something is wrong here. Yes, the EDU isn't perfect and it will be a little off the actual battery voltage, but 3.5V? No way. Mine is closer to 0.2V difference. Maybe somebody rewired your EDU to take voltage off the wrong spot...
