So I guess that makes it 4 or 5 to ?. eEuroparts sells just the tensioner without the bracket for some savings ~ $25 I think. If your tensioner bracket is still in good shape after all this wrenching you may want to try it.
I was able to get that bolt off with a single hex socket. I think it was Zeke who gave you good info on rerigging the belt. Hook up everything but the idler pulley (the other plastic wheel). Then put a breaker bar on your socket wrench and apply reverse pressure on the tensioner nut you are having problems tightening. It is a grunt, but I did it, and don't lift weights.
A bad tensioner trashed my new belt on a '95Aero. Wouldn't be surprised if it did in your's too. Also, the idler and tensioner pulleys go bad. So give them a good spin listening to the bearings, and check faces to be sure they're flat. My indie automatically replaces these pulleys when he does a belt because he has had too many failures shortly after replacing the belt. Not a bad idea for $40 or $50.
