I did a little extra research since beginning this thread, but the majority of my info is gathered from friends who are engineers (one with BF Goodrich in Ohio), and a life of asking questions from people who seem to know what they are talking about based on their job. Call your local tire retailer and see what they say.
I don't doubt the quality of people that visit this board. Most seem very intelligent, but then when someone posts information like you did, do you not expect me to try to correct what I perceive to be bad info?
If you need documentation, then go to tirerack.com or some of the other tire places and read. Do you seriously believe that link you posted? As in this guys situation, do you believe that a tire rated for 50psi max can run on whatever is written on the inside of the door? He even said himself that when he put 30 psi in it, it appeared too low. You are going off an assumption that just because a tire is of a given size that came with the vehicle that all tires that size are created exactly the same, by the same engineers designing them, with the same everything. Does that not seem a bit goofy to you?
