with what "normal" tire pressures should be for a specific vehicle ?

A same size tire can be run at different tire pressure depending on the type of vehicle or usage, i.e. the amount of tire loading. This is why tire manufacturers seldom, if ever, post recommended tire pressures. Tire manufactures do not know how *CAR* manufactures (or consumers) are going to use the tires that is why they don't post recommended tire pressures based solely on the tires.

Tire manufactures however do work with car manufacturers to decide on the recommended tire pressures on specific cars. These recommended tire pressure numbers are what we find on stickers next to the doors.

Tire manufacturers do post MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE pressure, and this is the number you would find stamped on a tire. This is a NOT TO EXCEED pressure under operating conditions.

It seems like that you are recommending people to use max tire pressure or close to it regardless of vehicle type. If I have interpreted your posts incorrectly then please correct me.

I have yet to see a single article suggesting consumers to use maximum allowable pressure instead of car manufacturers' recommended tire pressures. Just type in "recommended tire pressure" in your seach and you can find hundreds of articles suggesting we follow the recommendations of car manufacturers (for the given size and conditions).

A car manufacturer recommends different tire pressures for different tire size, load, and speed; but I have yet to see a car manufacturer that would recommend running tires at maximum allowable pressure for ordinary passenger cars.

This is why I kept asking you for documentation to the contrary.

It is not my intend to change your mind, all I am asking is if you can provide some articles or link to back your argument using close to maximum allowable tire pressure instead of us ordinary folks to follow what tire shops and automobile club sites recommend, i.e. tire pressure numbers in our car manual.
