I have had a 97 900s (4cyl-4spd) and currently own a '97 9000 Aero.

The 9000 is 99% Saab in design and implementation.
The 900 is a 50/50 mix of Saab and GM, and is a comprimise in a few areas.

I'm 6'4" anmd the extra interior room in the 9000 is a big plus.

The 9000 seat will go flat and allow you to haul massive amounts of stuff.
The 900 seat will NOT go flat and you will be disappointed when comparing it to your C900.

Engine/electrics are very similar between the two.

I'd say the 9000 is easier to work on as there is more room in which to do tasks... this providing both are 4cyl.

The 9000 is a bit boaty in comparison to the 900.. although it seem to handle as well once you get used to it, but it IS considered an executive sedan, and is heavier so it just isn;t going to be as toss-able.

If I had to choose one to go "on track" with I'd choose the 900 .. otherwise the 9000 is it for me.

I also was fortunate enought to drive a Viggen for 18 months, in between the 900 and the 9000
