Boiling coolant in reservoir tank w/o warning signs...

My 9000 is a daily driver. Had just used it Sunday morning to run a quick errand. All was okay.
I performed some minor front-brake work (applying anti-squeal to eliminate the school bus sound effects) later on Sunday. When finished, I took the car out for a test run. I was a few miles from home when smoke was pouring out of the passenger side hood and the temp gauge was on "H". I immediately pulled over into a gas station to identify where the leak was coming from.
The driver's side was nice and dry (where most of the coolant/heater hoses are). The passenger's side was dripping wet, and I could see the coolant boiling in the reservoir tank and pouring out from under the cap.
I'm thinking either the t-stat or water pump. Given the fact that there were no warning signs at all, is it more likely the t-stat? It's never been changed before. I maintain my car religiously, so it's not related to poor up-keep.
If it is the t-stat, is the one from eEuroparts oem Saab? What temp t-stat was oem in my year ('98), since I would like to keep it the same?
TIA
Joe
