...although there may be anecdotal evidence to the contrary, which I can't comment on myself, the rule of thumb is that the worrisome engines are the 91-93 model years, when they featured a susceptibly soft balance shaft sprocket which could result in timing chains snapping. It's my understanding that this has been remedied in the later models and SHOULD not be a worry.
In the case of the earlier cars, like Ari I'm often warned that the "chain is noisy" but haven't had a problem with any of the three 93s I've had.
Beware of misdiagnosis as well: a noisy serpentine belt tensioner pulley is often mistaken for a noisy chain. If you're warned about your timing chain, rule this part out first.
