a single data point. I don't think TCS is an option for the CSE but check if it has one. I have a TCS equipped Aero and I haven't had any problem with it and it does work considering 8-).
I can't comment on the suspension being soft as I found the Aero suspension too hard for my taste. Yes, Saab softened the 9K suspension a bit in later models but not overly so. I used to have a 1992 9K and its suspension was as hard as my 9K Aero.
Ari's post points to the major problem areas and Ari *KNOWS* the 9K inside and out 8-). My take on the suspension clunk (if from the front) is probably the lower control arm bushings. It maybe as simple as tightening the subframe bolts. The shocks in 9Ks last a very long time.
There are other minor things, such as antenna mast, washer fluid bottle leak, leaky washer check valves, headlight wipers, rear wiper washer, instrument dimmer switch, burnt light bulbs and little electrical things here and there.
The clutch in the 9K is relatively heavy. I also had the clutch hose replaced, I believe it was a hose defect for many 5-sp 1995 9Ks.
Check the serpentine belts, tensioner and pulleys (including the main crank shaft pulley), make sure they are in good shape and have been replaced at least once before. The belt and pulleys last about 60K miles or so and the main pulley probably is on its way out at 100K if it hasn't been changed.
Get a good Saab mechanic and give the car a once over. If you are handy, you can do a lot of the little things yourself and farm out the big ones to an independent.
