thanks for the long post...
i replaced the control arm bushing on the front right of my 93 CSE this afternoon after getting most of the 92 9000S back together (slave cylinder job).
it still pulls to right, and i still get a click or clunk type sound when slight turns, slowing down, backing up, from front right.
sigh...
the steering noise had disappeared until today, it clicked again, which means i guess i will have to start searching per your instructions.
i tried to find info in my saab manual, but it looks like i have to take apart the steering wheel to pull out the column, or am i approaching it all wrong?
i could see the steering column come into the box when i had the 92 9000 all apart, but it's hard to find back there behind the trans, how do you access this with everything on the car?? is there an easy way i am overlooking??
fortunately, i guess, i live in miami beach, where i don't have to worry anymore about corrosion. i moved down from massachusetts almost two years ago. i brought down my 92 9000S which was from CT, where they use sand instead of salt, and that car is essentially rust and corrosion free.
my 93 CSE i purchased several months ago was from Chicago, but is remarkably well-maintained (always garaged and washed) with just a touch of rust where some paint chipped off on the bottom of the rear hatch. taking off the control arm bushing was a cinch, but i did break the rusted sway bar link when I replaced the front right strut assembly (which was seriously shot) with a used one (could this be the noise culprit on front right?).
i'm back to the drawing board on noises, tempted to let it get worse until it's obvious where it's coming from, but will most likely dig through archives and ask advice again...
as far as pull to the right, it's a pretty strong pull to the right, not noticeably better with new bushing. strong enough that if i take my hand off the wheel, car will drift left, or change lanes on the highway
for that strut to be as shot as it was, i wonder if the front right took a hard hard pot hole or something in chicago and did some other damage that i can't see?? or just screwed up the alignment?
i'm going to look for a lifetime alignment deal down here if i can find one, i hate paying and then not having it last because of some pot hole or something...
thanks for your help, it's always nice to know people are willing to lend some time to help solve these problems
