if maintained, 9000 will go "forever"?

I ask this question to all of you- by the time the saab hits 160,000, one has invested much in maintaining it. In fact, outside of the maintenance issues hitting all cars (CV joints, oil, pads, etc.), many of us have invested in clutches, head gaskets, transmissions,
heater cores, radiators, mounts, and slave/master cylinders. In essence, most of us end up replacing the entire car through parts alone. I replaced my 9000 many times over!!
So what is it about the Saab that makes it run forever? Given this laundry list, a 1978 Yugo could run forever if maintained properly. My friend replaced less in his 1987 Monte Carlo SS and ran it to 187,000.
It seems like people maintain European cars more often due to their scarcity/high price on the market.(vs. american cars) There is a stigma that Euro cars are top quality- I challenge this, though- my 1988 camry, though cheap feeling, had all its buttons (including the functions behind them!) last past 250,000 miles. That is quality. My saab switches act cheaply in comparison. Yes, they look more elegant, are perhaps more interesting in what they offer, but they have mostly all been replaced.
I'm not hating on the Saab- I own two, so I really can't! I just wonder if when we say, "maintained properly, saabs will last a long time" we mean to say "saabs are fun, elegant cars worth pumping money into." Thinking about it, there is little on the car that will last forever.
cheers!
Mickey
