It is sad but very true, that insurance companies do not have a interest of the same level as their customers. Their business is to make money. I have had a few claims of totaled vehicles. And ALL were different in the amount settled by time. They have given a low figure in hopes that you will take it. Most people do, to get it over with and get in a different vehicle so they can get on down the road again. But if you wait and haggle with them over the amount, then they may well increase the amount. When they find your not playing THEIR game. Happened to me several years ago on 2 cars. Dont give in. You should have the option of a repair too.
