Question of judgment

Suppose your parents are 85 years old. Suppose they live in the country and are still driving. Maybe 20 miles average a day. They're not mechanically inclined and live modestly. Their car (a 1992 Subaru) is on its last legs. You have been worrying about that car and them driving.
Suppose further that you have a 1990 9000T that you have owned and babied for 10 years. It has 140K on the clock, and you have decided to replace it with a newer 9000. Question: would you offer it to your parents (at a substantial discount to its (modest) market value)? Is this a good car for an 85-year old? Or is any car?
I know this is a bit OT, but I really would appreciate the wisdom of the folks on this board who may have faced similar issues.
