First about the car:
Are you near enough to help them out if the car needs work or is there a good indy around that you trust?
The car really doesn't have a lot of miles on it for a 9K, so it might be okay. What can you predict that it might need, so maybe you can do it before passing it along? you don't want them to get stuck with the repairs or worse, to be stranded someplace.
Also 20 miles a day is not much. But it means oil will likely have to be changed more often and we all know that very little use is not always a good thing. Just something to think about.
Then about your parents.
Most important are they still competent as drivers? My mother in law is 83 and stopped driving last year 'cuz she realized she was a menace. This is not uncommon.
Are they going to be happy in your old 9K? Ingress and egress are a big deal to senior citizens. Are they comfortable riding and driving that car?
Maybe have them try it for a week. You take the old Subie. If they like it and you can all agree, then maybe it's a good deal for all.
Good luck. Hope this helps.
