With low miles you shouldn't have much to worry about. If well maintained, age is not a huge issue on these cars.
I'd give it a complete "tune up" before leaving.
Plugs
oil and filter
air and fuel filters
flush coolant and brake/clutch fluids
unless serp belt and pulleys are recent (under 15K) change them, and keep the old belt as a spare. If you don't have the pulley and a belt as spares.
recharge and leak test your A/C system
check your hoses or just change at least the top rad and heater hoses.
check your motor mounts, ball joints, etc.
Carry enough tools to do typical stuff (plus grubby clothes, hand cleaner, etc)
I would take a spare DI (always do on longer trips). Buy a used one from someplace reputable if you can't spring for a new one.
Carry oil and coolant
Hose tape, reflective triangles, couple of flashlights, duct tape
Get AAA premium (covers a 100 mile tow)
Get the TSN list of mechanics in the states you are going through
cell phone and prepaid card
Hit the road and have fun. You and your Saab will have a great time. The 9K is one of the best open road cars ever made.
